Rush hour lane closures causing long delays in Auckland

An emergency closure of two lanes on the Northern Motorway is expected to cause traffic chaos in Auckland.
The New Zealand Transport Agency said strong winds have damaged a sign on a gantry at Onewa Rd onramp north of the Auckland Harbour Bridge.
Two right-hand lanes were closed to allow emergency repairs to be carried out to ensure it didn't fall on to the motorway.
NZTA said it was likely to cause heavy congestion.
"We regret any inconvenience and delay, but we need to ensure the motorway is safe for everyone and securing the sign as quickly as possible is a priority," said NZTA's acting Highways Manager Steve Mutton.
