Biafra: South East govs condemn attack by Biafra group

Briefing newsmen after a closed-door meeting at the Enugu Government House chairman of the South East Governors Forum, Chief Theodore Orji, said the action was condemnable.
“We condemn the attempt by the Biafra Zionist Front led by one Benjamin Onwuka, who earlier on attempted to gain entry into the Enugu Government House for the purpose of hoisting their flag and for invading the ESBS on Thursday June 5, 2014.”
He expressed shock that such an action could be contemplated by such a group in an attempt to declare a state of Biafra, “that we condemn entirely.”
The governors declared readiness to continue to support the delegates from the zone at the National Conference in view of the extension of the exercise.
On Justice Chukwudifu Oputa’s death, the governors commiserated with the family of the deceased and pledged to participate in the burial ceremony.
They also expressed shock and sorrow over the untimely death of former Minister of Information, Prof.  Dora Akunyili and commiserated with the family, government and people of Anambra State.
On the death of the Emir of Kano, the South East governors commiserated with the people, the Emirate and the government of Kano State.
Governor  Orji expressed the determination of the South East governors to continue to collaborate with one another in the area of security.  Those at the meeting were Governors T.A Orji of Abia State, Martin Elechi, Ebonyi, Sullivan Chime (Enugu), Eze Madumere, Imo State deputy governor and Nkem Okereke, Anambra State deputy governor.
